"Joining Motorola is a fantastic opportunity for me and comes at a very exciting time. I really enjoyed my time at Huawei and worked with some great people. This is a new challenge for me." Powell told Mobile News.
Reports said Powell will join Motorola by the end of this year after concluding his three-month notice period. It's expected that he will hold a similar job title to what he held at Huawei.
Two months ago, Executive Vice President of U.K and Ireland Mark Mitchinson also resigned from his position after working for more than three years with the Chinese tech firm.
There are reports saying Duc Tinh Van Tri, Huawei's marketing manager of U.K and Ireland, may also be planning to leave the firm.
On October 30, Motorola was acquired by Chinese PC maker Lenovo for US$2.91 billion.
