The third expansion to the open-world sandbox looks to be Avalanche's biggest, with a larger world set in the Mediterranean. "Just Cause" 3 will feature hundreds of hours of gameplay, alongside an expansive open world for the player to explore and cause chaos.
Rico, the protagonist of the series, will return for the third chapter. Avalanche wants the player to be able to create whatever sort of chaotic mess in the world, without having the boundaries normal open world games push into the game.
Three years of development has gone into "Just Cause 3," said Christofer Sundberg, one of Avalanche's founders. He talked about the leaked images of "Just Cause 3," claiming it was an ancient version of the game and a lot has changed since the leak.
Sundberg said the game "will be distributed as a retail box and digital download. It is not a Free To Play game. It does not feature in-game micro transactions."
This was a concern for some fans of "Just Cause," who thought Avalanche would turn toward micro transactions in order to bring more revenue. There will be various DLC expansions later into the year for Just Cause 3, and Avalanche wants this to be a multi-year release.
CD Projekt Red has set an example for several studios with "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt," announcing the game will get 12 free DLC packs, no micro-transactions and a good PC port. It looks like Avalanche want the same respect from the PC audience, with the announcement of no micro-transactions.
There is no "date" per se, only the year Just Cause 3 will be released. There are plenty of games aiming for the February to April launch window, when "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt," "The Order: 1886," "Battlefield Hardline," "Evolve" and even more are expected to release.
Avalanche Studios have not had the best few years in terms of financials, but the studio is committed to making "Just Cause 3" an enjoyable experience for all gamers.
