A recent report said Microsoft is currently working on the camera handset successor to the Lumia 1020. 

The Lumia 1020 is arguably the handset with the best killer camera in the world. The successor's name is still unofficial and for now, it is called Lumia 1030. ITHome came up with a concept design for the upcoming Lumia 1030 handset.

The Lumia 1030 concept shows a high-end 5.8-inch display with quad HD 1440 x 12560 pixels screen resolution. Notably, it's a significant change from the 4.5-inch and 768 x 1280 pixels screen resolution of the Lumia 1020.

The rear of the Lumia 1030 concept design has a 41 megapixel PureView camera with Xenon and LED flashes while its front will have an 8.7 megapixel camera.

Other speculated features include a Snapdragon 805 CPU, 32 GB or 64 GB internal storage, 3 GB of RAM and a 4300 mAh battery. The Lumia 1030 will hopefully feature the new Windows 10 mobile operating system. The imaginary smartphone doesn't look very thin but the bezels are at a minimum.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 SoC with 3 GB of RAM specs are part of many handsets released in 2014 and some believe it could be too late for Microsoft to catch up with this configuration. The Lumia 1030 unique camera unit could still capture the interest of consumers, however.
