Apple is one of the most notable contributors to Product Red, Bono's awareness charity for AIDS and HIV viruses.

To support World AIDS Day 2014, Apple will launch a two-week campaign on the Apps Store and 25 apps will be available to download and most proceeds will go to Product Red.

Some of the apps are major players in the market, like Angry Birds, FIFA 15 and Garage Band. Apple wants to make sure the apps reach the largest audience on the Apps Store and will heavily promote them during the two-weeks.

Apple already donates to Product Red every time a customer buys a device or accessory with the Product Red color option. The partnership between the two brands has been ongoing for eight years now, and this is the biggest fundraising effort.

In a statement, Apple's CEO Tim Cook said "Apple is a proud supporter of (RED) because we believe the gift of life is the most important gift anyone can give." Bono reiterated that Apple would also be donating $75 million to Product Red this year.

Apple will also be donating a portion of its global sales on Black Friday and Cyber Monday to the Product Red foundation. The two days are typically Apple's busiest and analysts expect to be a blowout of sales during Black Friday, even if Apple decides not to offer any deals.

Some Apple fans have noted the lack of other charities available on the store throughout the year. It would be nice to see Apple put the same amount of enthusiasm to other causes as well, but Cupertino can be picky when it comes to charities.

Bono has deep ties in Apple's core management - a good friend of Steve Jobs - he has been able to count on Apple for almost a decade for funding. Earlier this year, CEO Tim Cook announced all iTunes owners would get U2's album, Songs of Innocence, for free.

Product Red will also receive donations from Beats Electronics (now owned by Apple), Nike, American Express, Coca-Cola, Starbucks and more. Bono is also appealing to people to donate generously to the different causes available on World AIDS Day.
