The Mall of America in Bloomington, Minnesota was the latest shopping center hit by anti-police protest over the death of unarmed black men Michael Brown and Eric Garner in the hands of white cops.

Between 2,000 and 3,000 people gathered at the mall's rotunda on Saturday as part of the national day of protest organized by the group Black Lives Matter Minneapolis.

During the 30 minutes that they blocked the entry, consumers who were doing last-minute Christmas shopping were disrupted by the chants and singing of "I Can't Breathe," prompting the managers of the shopping center to warn the protesters that they were trespassing and could be arrested, reports Star Tribune.

Fortunately, most of the protesters heeded the warning, while several dozens of police officers who had on riot helmets for protection convinced the crowd to disperse or leave the mall.

However, some of them entered the mall's shopping area and took over two levels where they had several "die-ins" in front of the retail outlets. The protesters, who held hands in the air, were again warned through an electronic board message that they would be arrested because of the mall's policy against protests.

Several of the protesters were led away by police with their hands tied behind their backs. Twenty-five people were arrested, according to Bloomington police.

After more than two hours of clearing the mall of the protestors, during which the east side of the shopping center was partly shuttered, mall operations was back to normal. During the protest, some shoppers stayed inside the stores until the protesters left the area.

By 5 p.m., the whole mall was reopened to shoppers again.

The mall managers said they were disappointed by Black Lives Matter organizers for ignoring store policy against political protests.

"It's clear from their actions that these political activists were more concerned about making a political statement and creating a media event than they were about the safety of others, who came to Mall of America for an afternoon of shopping and family entertainment."
