It looks like new updates for Guillermo del Toro's monster mecha sequel, "Pacific Rim 2" have been revealed regarding the possible plot details and Charlie Hunnam return to the film.

The website further adds that Del Tor has been gearing up extensively on the sequels production after his successful promotion of his latest horror/romance thriller "Crimson Peek" which will be released in cinemas in a few weeks.
Realty Today reports that the plot details for "Pacific Rim: Maelstrom" will set a few years after the first film in which the Jaeger pilots have survived their "last stand" against the growing Kaiju menace in Hong Kong. Del Toro hinted that the main focus of the sequel will be in "The Drift" were the Kaijus lived or more specifically made by an alien race.
The website hinted that the sequel will be much different form the first film as it will explore more of the Kaijus origins rather than the Jaeger pilots.
A previous report from Kpopstarz also claimed that the Jaeger pilots will also have new allies from the future to combat the Kaiju threat leaving an impression that "Pacific Rim 2" will have time-travel subplot.
The same website further reports that an animated series based on the first "Pacific Rim" film will also be in the works and will serve as the bridge between the first and second films.
In other news, Venture Capital Post reporedly claimed that the "Sons of Anarchy" and "Pacific Rim" star Charlie Dunnam will not return as Raleigh Becket in "Pacific Rim 2".
Del Toro quickly answered the rumors regarding Dunnam's participation in the sequel by sayin that the characters in the sequel will take a different journey within the film as Raleigh already solved his problem during the first movie and plans on taking a new adventure during the events of part 2.
It is unknown yet whether Dunnam will join the sequel, but other cast members such as Rinko Kikuchi, Charlie Day and Burn Gorman will reprise their roles as Jaeger pilot Mako Mori and scientist Dr. Newton Geizler and Dr. Hermann Gottlieb, Slash Film reports.
"Pacific Rim 2" is scheduled to be shown in cinemas on Aug. 4, 2017.
