Motorola working on the Nexus 6 project could mean that the potentially most powerful Nexus phone will be launched very soon.
LG quietly disappeared from the project and Motorola became the solid candidate to build the upcoming Nexus. Based on previous reports, Motorola Mobility is now a Lenovo operation and will soon release the Moto X+1 in 2014. People predicted that the device will become the Nexus 6, making a huge debut for the smartphone line in terms of power and size.

There are three clues that the next generation Nexus phone is a phablet by Motorola and Android enthusiasts will soon see the device. The first is that Motorola X1096 and X1097 have almost the same features and specs. Smart Droid showed a benchmark result of the Moto kit X1097 which will run on KitKat 4.4.4 and a quad-core Snapdragon processor. Compared to the Motorola X1096, the two have identical screen sizes. Unconfirmed reports said that the Moto X1097 or Motorola Shamu is a phablet with a 5.9-inch display.
Research firms predict of a trend that the phablet will be the dominant mobile device in the next four years and upsizing the screen makes sense for the Nexus 6. Google may try to outmatch the rumored 5.5-inch iPhone 6 with a 6-inch phablet that runs on Android L.
Another clue is that Lenovo's flagship mobile phone is Motorola since 2014 and the former is currently one of the largest smartphone manufacturers in the world. The Chinese company may plan to climb further by using Motorola to increase global shipments.
Lastly, Droid Life reported that the Moto X+1 will be available through Verizon starting Sept. 25 and if the release date is true, it is in line with Motorola's announcement that its next generation device for 2014 will be out on shelves by late fall of this year. If Moto X+1 is released late in September or early in October, Google will likely release the Nexus 6 device after four to six weeks.
