Sony Xperia Z Ultra, Xperia Z1s, Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z1 Compact users who still haven't downloaded and installed the latest Android 4.4.4 KitKat firmware update can choose to do it in two methods - through USB connection or wirelessly.

To use the Update Center app, the user should locate it in the Application menu where new software builds and apps from Sony Mobile are downloaded and installed. First, the user must enable mobile data or WiFi connection which is recommended for a more stable and speedy connectivity. Under the Application menu, the user must launch the Update Center app. He must tap the Refresh icon at the upper right corner of the app. There will be a notification where instructions will be provided. He may then download the firmware file. Once the download finishes, a notification about the installation process will appear. Battery life must be at least 50 percent for the installation to start. There is also a required storage space.

To update with the use of Sony Bridge or PC Companion, the users may use a MAC or Windows computer through USB connection. The user should download and install Sony Bridge or PC Companion to launch the Sony PC suite. The user must connect the Xperia device through a USB cable to allow the drivers to install. A notification about the new firmware update will appear on the PC suite. The user must confirm the download and proceed to install it by following the instructions that will be shown on the screen.

According to reports, the official change logs on the Sony Xperia Z1 include the latest security updates and Android 4.4.4 enhancements from Google, improved and updated camera features, improved Google Contacts, Voice, Google+ and music streaming, new versions of Sony apps and the latest optimizations, improvements and bug fixes.
