Chinese smartphone maker Gionee Mobile is preparing to unveil its latest Elife S8 smartphone on Feb. 22 at the upcoming Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2016 in Barcelona, Spain.
The Gionee Elife S8, which was recently spotted on Geekbench with the model number "GN9011", is the successor to last year's model, the Elife S7. The previous model was unveiled in March at the same MWC event.

According to the Geekbench listing, the Gionee Elife S8 handset will be powered by a MediaTek MT6755 chipset (eight core Helio P10), and will come with 4GB of RAM and the Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system out of the box.
Unfortunately, the listing doesn't provide any more details. However, Gionee announced that the Elife S8 will feature a "hassle-free photo-shooting" capability and a "pressure sensitive display" screen.
Gionee said, "A new era of mobile photography has arrived and we welcome our consumers to explore this era together with joy in their hearts. We believe technology is part of our lives and we enjoy the convenience and creativity it brings."
"At MWC 2016, GIONEE will introduce a new member to its S series - the Elife S8, an innovative mobile device that comes with hassle-free photo-shooting features and a pressure-sensitive display," the company added.
In comparison with its predecessor, the Elife S7 features a Mediatek MT6752 processor, 2GB of RAM, up to 16GB of built-in memory storage, and a 2,700 mAh battery. This device sports a 5.2-inch screen with a 1,080 x 1,920 pixel resolution, and came with the Android 5.0 Lollipop OS pre-installed.
