Popular Korean girl group 2NE1 will continue to release new music as a trio after the youngest member Gong Min Ji left the group on Tuesday.
The girl group's agency YG Entertainment revealed that Minzy chose not to renew her contract, which will expire next month. Although she has left the group, other members CL, Park Bom and Dara will remain with the label. They are said to be currently working on new music that will be released soon.

The label released an official statement to address the rumor about 2NE1's disbandment.
"We are sorry to bring this regrettable news to 2NE1′s fans who have waited for a long time," the statement reads. "We are officially informing you that 2NE1′s Gong Minzy will no longer be able to be a part of 2NE1."
"YG's contract with 2NE1 expires on May 5, 2016. Last January, we had individual face-to-face talks with each member regarding renewing their contracts and showed our desire for the group to reform. Unfortunately, Gong Minzy did not feel the same," the company revealed.
Minzy, who trained under the label for 11 years, made her debut at the age of 15 together with the other members in 2009. The company said it respects her choice but felt sorry when they had to stop the group's promotion two years ago.
"YG and the members promise to make a strong resolution for fans who have trusted 2NE1′s music and waited.," the statement said. "We will promise to return with the most 2NE1-style and 2NE1-appropriate music. Thank You."
On the other hand, 2NE1's fans called "Blackjacks" have been expressing their feelings about Minzy's departure on Twitter.
