The Winds of Winter, the sixth installment of George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire fantasy series is probably the most awaited book of the year. Unfortunately, despite fans' clamor for details, Martin has remained mum. However, several reports suggest that the book will finally be released this May.

Although no details about The Winds of Winter have been confirmed, the last update about it was that Martin is working overtime to finish it. Martin has been clear about what he needed and wanted to do to finally complete the book, even announcing that he would not be accepting other projects so he can concentrate on writing.

There are several rumors that The Winds of Winter will finally be released this month. If the talks are true, then Game of Thrones fans can get their hands on the book in just a few weeks.

However, Martin is yet to release an official statement regarding the book's release date. 

Fans will be glad to hear that they will be able to learn more details about The Winds of Winter at the Balticon which will be held on May 27 to May 30.

The sci-fi convention, which celebrates literature, will hold a Feast of Ice and Fire Dinner, which outstanding author Martin will be a part of. Participants will be able to ask Martin questions, thus it is expected that questions about his progress with The Winds of Winter, as well as how different it will be from the show Game of Thrones will finally be answered.
