LG is dipping its toes into the action camera market with its latest, and aptly named, Action Cam LTE. As the name suggests, LG's camera has native LTE support which means that users are not required to sync it with a smartphone to stream live videos.
GoPro, probably the biggest player in the action camera market, offers a wide range of cameras, but none of them support LTE network.

LG is planning to release a completely waterproof case for the Action Cam LTE later this year. This waterproof case will allow users to live stream their water activities like scuba diving and surfing.
According to LG, the current model of the Action Cam LTE can be immersed in up to a meter of water for about 30 minutes. However, when equipped with the waterproof case, LG said that the camera can stay under water for as long as the battery lasts.
The LG Action Cam LTE has an IP67 rating, which means that it is completely protected from sand and dust.
Aside from the impressive LTE support, LG was also able to cram other high-end hardware specs into the Action Cam LTE. The specs include a 12.3-megapixel camera equipped with a 150-degreewide angle lens. The camera also has a slew of sensors embedded into it like GPS, a gyroscope, and an accelerometer.
Many tech analysts have noted that the inclusion of the accelerometer and gyroscope sensors could offer some future software benefits for the LG Action Cam LTE. Action cameras like Bandit from TomTom use these hardware sensors to mark a footage for big action moments, as well as when the user is going fast or falling.
As for its battery life, LG claims the Action Cam LTE can last up to four hours of full HD recording time which can be stored in a microSD card. When used during live streaming, the camera can last up to two hours.
LG is planning to release the Action Cam LTE next month in South Korea. Its release in the North American and European markets is expected to follow shortly afterward. LG is yet to confirm the official price of the Action Cam LTE.
