Sony Unveils Xperia XA Ultra With 6-Inch Screen, 16MP Selfie-Shooter and 21.5MP Rear Camera

Japanese tech giant Sony Corporation has officially unveiled a new mid-range smartphone, called the Xperia XA Ultra, which is expected to come out in selected markets starting in July 2016. The upcoming handset features a large 6.0-inch display screen with a resolution of 1,080 x 1,920 pixels (Full HD), protected by a scratch-resistant glass.

The Sony Xperia XA Ultra weighs about 190 grams and measures 164.2 x 79.4 x 8.4 mm in dimensions. In terms of the camera, it has a 21.5 megapixel rear-facing unit with hybrid autofocus and a 16 megapixel front-facing shooter with optical image stabilization feature (OIS). Both cameras are said to come with LED flashes.

Under the hood, the device is equipped with MediaTek's Helio P10 (MT6755) processor, 3GB of RAM and up to 16GB of built-in memory storage, which is expandable up to 200GB via a microSD card slot on board. The phone is powered by a non-removable 2,700 mAh battery, which can last up to 48 hours on a single charge, according Sony.

Users will also have an option to purchase a separate quick charging technology that enables the phone to last up to 5.5 hours with just ten minutes of charging, GSM reported.

Additionally, the Sony Xperia XA Ultra will come with the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow operating system out of the box, and will be available in three different colors: Graphite Black, White and Lime Gold. As of this time, there is still no word on how much the Sony Xperia XA Ultra will cost, and whether the smartphone will arrive in the United States market.
