The Nexus 9 is said to be a benchmark for future Android tablets to match or exceed. According to reports, Google aims to shift Android products from entry-level to first-class. The tech giant wants to defeat Apple and its collective effort involves everything in the Android system. Google aspires to produce high-end Android tablets with default features and specs.

The iPad 2 dominates the Nexus 9 when it comes to performance, but Google's stock Android may catch up soon. HTC's design philosophy and craftsmanship have also impressed Google through the HTC One M8 and HTC One M7. Google planned to create the Nexus 9 with the same precision details, usability, build materials and uncluttered features.

Google also changed its color options from its usual white, silver and black finish to different colors to emphasize the new look and fashion statement. According to reports, Google wants this style for all its future Android tablets. 

Android 5.0 Lollipop on the new Nexus 9 is the newest pure Android form with the newest mix and Google also hopes that its future tablets will also depend on the mobile operating system's raw capabilities and power. The basic Nexus 9 is also priced at $400, reflecting Google's plan to deliver high-end products that are accessible to a lot of users. It is a tablet business model that Google wants Samsung, LG and Sony to adopt in the future.

Amazon UK delayed the Google Nexus 9 shipping date to mid-December instead of its initial November release schedule. Amazon confirmed to accept pre-orders after its Oct. 15 launch but it appears that the retailer is having a hard time having the Nexus 9 in stock, now moving the device's availability to Dec. 15.
