Virtual reality technology company Oculus VR recently acquired two tech companies, Nimble VR and 13th Lab, to improve its virtual reality technology.

It had developed the Nimble Sense, a technology used with the Oculus Rift to bring its users' hands into the virtual reality world.

13th Lab is a company that focuses on developing augmented reality tracking and real time 3D construction framework technologies.

The company is known for developing SLAM, a technology used for creating maps of unknown environments. It had also developed image recognition technology with the capability to recognize and track 2D images.

"The ability to acquire accurate 3D models of the real-world can enable all sorts of new applications and experiences, like visiting a one-to-one 3D model of the pyramids in Egypt or the Roman Colosseum in VR," said Oculus.

Oculus also announced it has hired Chris Bregler, an expert in motion capture technology and a professor of computer science from New York University.

Chris Bregler is known for contributing to the special effects used in the movies, "Star Trek into Darkness" and "The Lone Ranger". Reports say Bregler will lead Oculus' vision research team.

Apple still leads the global PC market by 14 percent in the year's second quarter. According to research firm Canalys, worldwide shipments of Apple tablet fell by five percent or 48.8 million units in the second quarter of 2014.

The report said Samsung and Apple allowed traditional computer makers Dell and Lenovo to step up. Experts believe the PC market will recover stability since the tablets were first introduced nearly four years ago.
