G.E.M. Tang's 'Divatude' Gets Her in Trouble Again

Singer-songwriter Gloria Tang Tsz-Kei, more popularly known as G.E.M. Tang, is currently facing criticism for her diva behavior.

Recently, the singer was criticized for being disrespectful to the media in a press conference during her X.X.X. Live World Tour in Hong Kong, which ran through January 14-17 this year.  Her manager emphasized that G.E.M. was an international star and can only do one round of interview, Asian Pop News reports.

Hong Kong performers typically arrange seats for the press along with their camera crew.

In G.E.M.'s series of five concerts, the physical set-up was far from the typical arrangement.

The singer's manager initially refused separate interviews for traditional print and digital print media outlets.

The photographers and camera crew were the only people granted admission and there were also no seats allotted for them.

The only time photographers and camera crew can take pictures was within 30 minutes of the show. They were then told to leave after that.

There were no interviews granted after the concert.

"There were many negative reports earlier. G.E.M. is very resistant to Hong Kong media, and does not wish to complicate matters. She will need to consider carefully before granting interviews," G.E.M.'s manager said, in response to the new arrangement made in the concerts.

This occurrence was not the only time the singer was lambasted for her behavior.

Last month, G.E.M. was also bashed for showing up late for the Metro Radio Hits Music Awards, both the event and after party.

"In the past, I would question myself if it was so hard to just focus on singing. Now, I will actively remind myself that no matter what challenge or difficulties ahead, I will overcome them by singing my songs well. Other than music, I will not care about other things," the singer wrote in Weibo, in response to the negative feedbacks about her.

G.E.M.'s X.X.X. Live World Tour is listed s one of Hong Kong's most expensive concerts. The VIP ticket price starts at HK$1880.
