"Fast and Furious 8" is set to welcome Invictus actor Scott Eastwood. Speculations have been going around about Clint Eastwood's son playing the brother of Paul Walker's character.

"Eastwood's character will be joining government operative Mr. Nobody (Kurt Russell) in assigning a new task to Dominic Toretto and the gang," Digital Spy reported. "Mr. Nobody seems to know everything about everybody, so it's not a leap to suggest that he hired Eastwood for a purpose."

The website noted that in the original film, Brian O'Conner was also working for the FBI before joining Dominic Toretto's team. Then there's also the physical similarities between Eastwood and Walker, and were actual friends in real life for a good number of years.

Eastwood confirmed their friendship in an Instagram post where he expressed his excitement over being picked to join the "Fast and Furious 8."

"Paul was a close friend of mine," he wrote. "We surfed together, traveled together, and he was a huge role model and influencing figure in my life when I was younger. He still is. He was an older brother to me. For me to be able to add to the F&F story, Paul's story and the FAST family is like a dream come true."

It's hard to put into words how excited I am for the next Fast & Furious. To me, the series is so much more than just a franchise. It’s a legacy. These great actors who have been in it together for so long have become a family. I absolutely can’t wait to join it. Now I can’t say too much, but I get to play a new character who operates under Kurt Russell in the movie, which is incredible, because Kurt was a total childhood hero of mine growing up. Very much looking forward to learning a thing or two from such an original and cool guy. Paul was a close friend of mine. We surfed together, traveled together, and he was a huge role model and influencing figure in my life when I was younger. He still is. He was an older brother to me. For me to be able to add to the F&F story, Paul’s story, and the FAST family is like a dream come true. Gary Gray and Neal Moritz - I can’t wait to get started and dive in. Vin - thank you for the support and the insight. Paul - I am going to make you proud. #F8

Meanwhile, lead star Vin Diesel shared a new poster for "Fast and Furious 8" on his Facebook account. The actor, who plays Dominic Toretto, can be seen looking lonesome as he looked at an empty road.

It also had the text that reads, "New Roads Ahead." There's not much about the poster but many speculated that the words pertain to the new beginnings the storyline is heading given the death of Walker.

Fast and Furious 8 will be released in theaters on April 12, 2017.
