Asus Unveils new Transformer 3 and Transformer Pro 3 Tablets

Asus has unveiled the new Transformer 3 and Asus Transformer Pro 3. The Asus Transformer 3 and Asus Transformer Pro 3 are the two new 2-in-1 additions to Asus' tablet PC lineup which competes with Microsoft's Surface Pro in terms of specifications, according to Engadget.

The Transformer 3 and the Transformer 3 Pro both have a 12.6-inch screen and a 2880 x 1920 resolution, HDMI ports, USB-C, Harmon Kardon speakers. They are also compatible with Asus accessories such as universal pods and digital pens. The graphic card specifications of the devices were not disclosed, but they are said to be VR-ready and have similar graphical capabilities with a PC.
The Transformer 3 has 6.9mm thickness and 695 grams in weight. The device has a 512GB SSD and 8GB LPDDR3 memory installed along with Intel Core i7 processor (Core M), 3.5mm audio jack, a fingerprint reader, and a keyboard that comes in four different colors.
Compared to the Asus Transformer 3, the Transformer Pro 3 is much heavier. It has a thickness of 8.35mm and features the Intel Core i7 processor (Skylake), HDMI ports, 1 TB SSD, and 16GB LPDDR3 memory, and an integrated kickstand. A 13-megapixel camera is installed on the back of the device and is pre-installed with Windows Hello's facial recognition app. The cooling system for both devices is still in the works.
Asus also announced a lighter and budget friendly version called the Transformer Mini which has a 10.1-inch display with 790 grams in weight if the keyboard is attached. The other specifications of the Mini are yet to be disclosed.
There has also been no announcement about the shipping dates for Asus Transformer 3 and Transformer Pro 3. The prices for the devices starts at $799 for Transformer 3 and $999 for Transformer Pro, 3 according to AnandTech.
