Lionhead Studios is currently developing Fable Fortune, a free-to-play digital card game that will be released 18 months before the developer shuts down.
Microsoft has given permission for the Fable name to be used, but it will not publish the game. Ex-Lionhead employees Craig Oman, Mike West and Marcus Lynn founded Flaming Fowl, a new studio, to finish the game. The team have turned to Kickstarter to promote the game and is hoping to generate at least $360,000 within four weeks.

Fable Fortune is similar to Blizzard's Hearthstone, but with better 3D art style. The game also has online co-op against AI, a leveling system, mid-game quests that will impact morality (whether the player will proceed in doing something good or evil), and Trophy cards.
Originally, the idea for the game was supposed to be for the sequel of Fable 2, but Lionhead Studios was shut down, ending the development. The development began in 2014 after Lionhead partnered with Mediatonic, and decided to create a prototype that will become the base of the game.
The characters and locations, items, and magic will be based on the Fable franchise. The casts comprise of famous heroes and villains in the franchise added with concepts that were not developed in the previous games, according to Gamespot.
Fable Fortune's closed beta will be released a few weeks after the end of the fundraising campaign. The open beta will be compatible with both PC and Xbox One. The game is expected to be released in 2017.
