Celebrity couple Wong Cho Lam and Leanne Li, whose upcoming wedding is on February 14, are currently facing a problem of being duped in their new house renovations, Jaynestars News reports.

The couple already spent over $13 million HKD on the 4,000 square feet house, which is located in Sai Kung. Cho Lam already added in another $3 million to aid in renovating the house.

Unfortunately, Cho Lam ended up paying more than $5 million due to numerous back jobs in renovations, which was already more than 70% of the estimated budget.

As the couple observed their poorly renovated home, there were so many designs that were not needed in the first place.

The air conditioner was poorly placed on top of the stove's range hood in the kitchen, rainwater leaks in the kitchen wall and power switches all placed in the same corner were just some of the renovation mistakes made in the house.

The poorly constructed house was made by Joe Yiu, an interior designer. Cho Lam met the designer through a church activity. Taking pity on the circumstance that Yiu was a recovering drug addict, Cho Lam gave him the opportunity to handle the renovations of his home.

The house started its construction in August 2013, which Yiu initially gave Cho Lam a price quote of $3.3 million HKD. After a few months, Yiu eventually raised the price to $5 million.

A close friend of Cho Lam advised him that he might be cheated out of the construction, since upon investigation there were so many construction features not needed but were included.

Cho Lam contacted Yiu to turn over the account numbers, which he vehemently refused. Yiu also refused to turn over the keys to the car garage. Cho Lam, left with no choice, contacted the authorities.

Yiu pleaded to have a quiet settlement but Cho Lam insisted on not paying an additional $2 million. He is now availing the service of a claims adjuster.
