New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith suffered a broken jaw after being punched by then teammate and Jets linebacker IK Enemkpali for not reimbursing a $600 plane ticket. Smith reportedly put his finger in his Enemkpali's face during the eventual argument before he was "sucker punched".

Dr Pepper bought a big stake in sports drink BodyArmor endorsed by Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant and which is a Gatorade rival. Dr Pepper Snapple Group bought an an 11.7% stake in BA Sports Nutrition, the maker of BodyArmor, for $20 million, the Business Insider reported.

MVP runner-up James Harden of the Houston Rockets will be signing a 13-year, $200 million deal with Adidas after Nike decided not to match the offer, according to the Sun Times. Adidas spokesman Michael Ehrlich said that they pursued Harden because they are sure that he can take their brand to new heights. The 25-year-old Harden had just won won the NBA scoring title, voted MVP by his peers and on top of his runner-up finish in the recent NBA MVP race.

Top Rank CEO Bob Arum is grooming Amir Khan to fight Manny Pacquiao in the Middle East next year, since Floyd Mayweather is unwilling to fight the British boxer, according to the Daily Mail. Arum will open talks with Khan's management this week and suggested that the venue will be in the Middle East, with Abu Dhabi the likely option after Dubai has been ruled out. Sportsmail's Jeff Powell revealed back in May that the fight between Khan and Pacquiao is being scheduled for early 2016 by Arum.
